Patiala:- Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has clarified that the state government has fulfilled all the legitimate demands of Parvinder Singh Jhotta’s family. He said the government had discharged its responsibility and that conducting a post-mortem on the deceased’s body now depended entirely on the family’s wishes.
At the same time, the Chief Minister launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led Central Government, alleging that it had interfered with Punjab’s interests and betrayed the state from the very beginning. He alleged that the BJP had repeatedly attempted to undermine Punjab’s claims over Chandigarh and had conspired to reduce the state’s representation and share in the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB). The Chief Minister said the Centre was obstructing Punjab’s progress by withholding development funds due to the state. He added that, despite these hurdles, the Aam Aadmi Party government remained fully committed to making Punjab vibrant, economically strong and prosperous again.

Responding to a question from journalists, Bhagwant Mann also took a swipe at the relationship between the BJP and the Shiromani Akali Dal. He said the BJP had recently concluded a march against drugs and questioned what message its leaders would send to the public if they shared a stage with Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia. The Chief Minister said that claiming to fight drugs on one hand while moving towards a political alliance with the Akali Dal on the other was contradictory and unusual. He added that the people of Punjab had clearly understood what he described as the double standards of these political parties.
