Patiala, April 14:- The fourth class employees working in government and semi-government institutions celebrated the birth anniversary of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Ji with great devotion by holding a grand gathering at the union office, Rajpura Colony. On this occasion, the employees pledged to struggle for the pending demands of long-time employees, pensioners, raw employees, restoration of old pension and regularization of the services of all raw employees of the categories of sanitation workers, sewermen etc. who have been working for a long time in the Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council, Municipal Council, etc., in the light of the decisions of the Honorable High Courts, including the issuance of "equal work, equal wages" and the end of the contract system.
In which, they also pledged to implement the pay scale and allowances recommended by the entire scheme employees, part-time employees and wage commissions and announced that a protest march will be held in the main markets of Patiala on (May 1st) daily wages.
On this occasion, the leaders of employees and pensioners, Darshan Singh Lubana, Ram Lal Rama, Shiv Charan, Ram Prasad Sahota, Rajesh Golu, Suraj Pal Yadav, Babu Ram Babbu, said that the Punjab government has not revised the minimum wage in the last 8 years, only partial increases are made which do not match the inflation. These leaders said that the dearness allowance installments of employees and pensioners and crores of rupees are due.
The Honorable High Court of Punjab and Haryana has ordered the Punjab government to make payments by fixing a time limit of 30 June 2026. The employees also promised that rallies will be held in phases on departmental demands and on April 16 at the Excise and Taxation Department headquarters, on April 22 at the Punjab Public Works Department headquarters and on April 23 at the Health Department's Mata Kushlia Hospital, Patiala and from April 20 to April 25, gate rallies will be held in front of government colleges in Punjab.
In which the rallies will start on April 21 at 1:00 pm in front of the State College, so that the pending demands of the employees in the colleges and government schools can be highlighted and the government's social and economic exploitation of keeping mid-day meal workers and sanitation workers in government schools at Rs. 3000/- per month and chowkidars at Rs. 5000/- can be exposed and the government of change can be taught a lesson in the 2027 general elections.
Other leaders and members from various departments participated in the meeting.
