Nawanshahr, September 29:- The efforts being made by Village Improvement Sabha Saloh for the development and beautification of the village received further impetus today when the beautification project of the village Tanki Park was formally inaugurated by prominent personalities of the village after offering prayers before Waheguru. The Village Improvement Sabha had been formally constituted recently with the objective of making the village green, beautiful, clean, hygienic and drug-free.
The village's enlightened and prominent persons unanimously elected Kewal Ram Sund as President, Numberdar Harpreet Bajaj as Vice President, Tejinder Kumar as Secretary, Narinder Rathore as Joint Secretary, Naresh Bhatti as Treasurer and Ramji Das as Deputy Treasurer. Kamal Dev has been appointed as the chief organiser of the Sabha.
Appreciating the efforts being made by the Sabha with the objective of developing Tanki Park as an attractive and model park, retired judge and Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India, S. Harbhajan Singh Sidhu provided financial assistance of Rs. one lakh in cash to the Sabha. He assured that he would continue to extend maximum support in the future as well for the welfare and development works undertaken by the Sabha for the village.
On this occasion, other eminent personalities of the village also appreciated the activities of the Sabha and the works carried out so far and provided substantial financial assistance on the spot. The speakers said that along with government assistance, the collective support of villagers, Non-Resident Indians and financially capable sections of society is extremely important for the development of the village.
The office-bearers of the Sabha said that with the spirit of “Our Village—Our Responsibility”, more concrete initiatives would be undertaken in the coming time to make the village clean, green, beautiful and drug-free. Along with developing facilities in the park for children, youth, women and senior citizens, special priority would also be given to planting maximum trees in the village and protecting the environment. The stage proceedings of the Sabha were conducted by Naresh Bhatti. In the end, Bhupinder Singh Sidhu thanked the dignitaries who attended the programme.
Besides the office-bearers of the Sabha, Gurbachan Singh Nagoke, Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, Gurinder Singh Toor, Gurinder Singh Grewal, Gurdeep Sandhu, Harinder Singh, Harjass Kumar, Chitsimran Gill, Sarabjit Gangar, Subedar Balwinder Singh, Paramjit Singh, former Sarpanch, Dharminder Singh, Pradeep Kumar, Balvir Singh Soni, Tarsem Lal Bajaj, Kulwinder Kinda, Varinder Mohan, Sukhwinder Singh, Prem Singh, Kulwinder Sund, Jagdish Kumar, Balkrishan, Bahadur Singh, Husn Lal Karre, Surinder Singh, Swaran Das, Ramji Bhatti, Charanjit, Yuvraj, Subhash Gangar, Saudagar Ram, Nirmal Singh, Ajay Kumar Sund, Amarjit Ambi, Prem Nath, Satpal Mall, Manjit Singh, Sushil Kumar, Harmesh Lal and a large number of villagers were present.
