SAS Nagar, November 26:- In protest against the construction of barriers on the highway leading to the fields of Machli Khurd on the highway starting from village Bhago Majra, the farmers of Machli Khurd blocked the newly constructed highway by placing tractor trolleys. During this protest, former cabinet minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu also participated and raised slogans in favor of the farmers and assured the National Highway Authority officials and the Deputy Commissioner of the district to resolve the farmers' problems.
During the protest, former Chairman of Market Committee Kharar Harkek Chand Sharma Machli Kalan informed Mr. Sidhu about the problems of the people in detail. He said that no slip road has been constructed for the people of Machli Khurd to enter this highway and now other routes are being blocked and closed by the Highway Authority.
On this occasion, Mr. Sidhu expressed his agreement with the problem of the farmers of the village and said that it is not at all justified to erect barriers on the roads leading to the farmers' fields because the people's lands have been divided into two parts due to the highway and the National Highway Authority should understand that if the old roads are closed, how will these people go to their fields.
He said that the administrative officials should visit the spot and find a solution to this issue with the consent of the farmers of the village. On the spot, he spoke to the senior officials of the Highway Authority on the phone and explained the problem of the villagers in detail and also promised to raise this issue of the farmers before the Deputy Commissioner Mohali.
On this occasion, Jaswant Singh, Prer Singh, both former Sarpanchs, Dalip Singh Bajwa, Varinder Singh, Bikramjit Singh, Swaran Singh Numberdar, Kuldeep Singh, Amrik Singh, Gurdev Singh, Surjit Singh, Major Singh, Gurvinder Singh, Bawa Singh, Jagtar Singh, Jasvinder Singh, Sant Singh, Deen Mohammad, Labh Singh Machhli Kalan were also present.
