Haroli/Una, April 10 (Rajveer Chopra): Thanks to the efforts of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, an atmosphere of excitement prevails within the Haroli Block Industry Association following the laying of the foundation stone for site development and infrastructure works—worth ?250 crore—for the proposed Bulk Drug Park in the Haroli region of Una district. Industry organizations have hailed this ambitious project as a historic step for the state's industrial future.
Rakesh Kaushal, President of the Industry Association, stated that this Bulk Drug Park—being developed at a cost of approximately ?2,000 crore—will prove to be a milestone not only for Himachal Pradesh but for the entire nation in its journey toward self-reliance in the pharmaceutical sector. This project will play a pivotal role in reducing India's foreign dependency—particularly its reliance on China—for the manufacturing of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs).
Applauding the leadership of the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, the Association noted that the State Government's decision to execute this project directly—prioritizing the public interest—sends a message of confidence to the industrial sector. The joint participation of the Central and State Governments will further strengthen this project.
According to industry representatives, the project is expected to generate direct and indirect employment for approximately 15,000 people, thereby boosting economic activity in the region. Kaushal added that the proposed railway connectivity, road upgrades, and other infrastructure projects will prove instrumental in attracting investment.
Furthermore, the industry sector has welcomed the proposed construction of a working women's hostel in Panjuana as a positive initiative, noting that it will boost the participation of women in the workforce and provide them with safe accommodation facilities.
The Industry Association also expressed confidence that this industrial complex—being developed in strict adherence to environmental standards—will serve as a model for sustainable development. In conclusion, the industry sector expressed its gratitude to the Chief Minister and the State Government, voicing the hope that this project will enable Himachal Pradesh to scale new heights in the industrial sphere and help Una district emerge as a prominent industrial hub. On this occasion, several dignitaries were present, including Rohit Verma—General Secretary of the Haroli Block Industries Association—along with Nagendra Singh, R.C.
