Ambala, October 21 (R. Singh):- Haryana Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij said that education refines an individual’s personality and that people should move forward with new technology while keeping their values alive. He said that youth are the future of the country and that India is a young nation. Young people should be full of immense energy and channel it towards positive activities so that they can contribute to nation-building.

Anil Vij expressed these views while inaugurating the 49th Zonal Youth Festival organised at GMN College by the Department of Youth and Cultural Affairs of Kurukshetra University. He also announced a grant of Rs. 31 lakh from his discretionary fund for activities at the college.

Anil Vij appreciated the Department of Youth and Cultural Affairs of Kurukshetra University for organising the youth festival. He said that participants had been provided with an excellent platform to showcase their talent, encouraging them to give their best through songs, dances, poetry, plays and messages. He added that students had practised extensively for their performances because striving for excellence requires enthusiasm and the motivation to overcome numerous obstacles. He said, “Success is a combination of two things: one is ability and the other is opportunity.” This platform gives students an opportunity to showcase and prove their talent.

The Energy Minister said that every aspect of the world is competitive and that the world itself is a competition. Practice is essential to excel in competition. When a poet writes a beautiful poem, it is because of concentration. Concentration is a valuable asset in life.

The Energy Minister said that winning or losing in any competition is not important; participation is what matters. A winner should never become arrogant, and a loser should never give up. He said that education truly makes a person a human being. He also said that Haryana is known for its sports, its soldiers standing guard at the borders, and its ability to turn barren land fertile and produce crops through hard work and strength. In such a state, opportunities must be opened up for young people.

He said there was nothing wrong with learning languages. Citing the examples of China, Israel, London, Russia, France and other places, he said that people should move forward while remaining connected to their traditions and culture and should also showcase their culture on stage.

On the occasion, Energy Minister Vij praised the work of the GMN College Management Committee. Describing GMN College and SD College as leading educational institutions in Haryana, Vij said that both colleges were making significant contributions to the overall development of students by advancing not only in education but also in other fields.
