Garhshankar:- Doaba Sahitya Sabha Registered Garhshankar, active for literary activities in the Doaba region, organized its annual literary honor ceremony and poet court at the local Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar. The event was attended by literary societies active in the Doaba region and poets and literature lovers from all over the region.
The event was started by lighting the lamp by the president of the society, Principal Dr. Bikkar Singh and the present personalities. The president of the society, Dr. Bikkar Singh, welcomed the guests and poets and informed about the activities of the society.
The presidium included Professor Sandhu Varyanvi, General Secretary, Central Punjabi Writers' Society (Sekhon), Principal Bikkar Singh, President Doaba Sahitya Sabha Registered Garhshankar, Sohan Suni Darpan Sahitya Sabha Saila Khurd and eminent folk poet Jagdish Rana.
The awards given by the Sabha every year for their valuable contribution to Punjabi literature were given to the Sardar Major Singh Mauji Memorial Award to Punjabi writer and lyricist Mr. Amrik Hamraj, the Principal Sujan Singh Memorial Award to lecturer Jaswinder Singh Jassi, the Ustad Ulfat Bajwa Memorial Award to Mr. Gurdeep Singh Saini and the Special Honorary Award to the members of the local Sahitya Sabha to the senior member and patron of the Sabha, Sarwan Sidhu Ji.
The poet's court was attended by Sandhu Varyanvi, Ranveer Babbar, Pawan Bhamian, Principal Dalwara Ram, Sohan Singh Suni, Sarwan Sidhu, Gurmail Singh, Hardev Rai, Jarnail Singh Dagham, Prof. JB Sekhon Khalsa College Mahilpur, Gurnam Bawa, Advocate Kunal Sharma, Joga Singh Numberdar, Ranjit Possi, Jagdish Rana Jalandhar, Gurdeep Saini, Tarsem Bhamian, Manoj Phagwarvi, Dr. Joginder Kullewal, Superintendent Parminder Singh, Prof. Saurav Dadri, Sitara Singh Gill, Rekha Rana, Anita Vashisht, Gurdeep Kaur Komal, Comrade Kulwinder Sangha and other audience members.
During the Kavi Darbar, students of Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College Garhshankar, Manjit Sekhon, Prabh, Simran and Jasmine Kaur also created a lot of color through their poems. The stage of the event was conducted by the Senior Vice President of the Sabha, Mr. Balbir Singh Khanpuri. At the end of the program, Prof. Sandhu Varyanvi thanked the poets and the audience and appealed to the Punjab government to make efforts to promote Punjab, Punjabi and Punjabiyat.
