SAS Nagar, January 9:- The District Red Cross Society, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Ms. Komal Mittal, on Friday handed over sports equipment worth Rs 1.44 lakh to promising para badminton player Ranjit Singh, who is set to participate in the Spanish Para Badminton International Vitoria-Gasteiz 2026.
The prestigious tournament, part of the BWF Para Badminton World Circuit (Grade 2 – Level 2), will be held from March 16 to March 22, 2026, at the Aranalde Sports Centre, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain.
Encouraging the para athlete, the Deputy Commissioner said that the District Administration is committed to supporting talented sportspersons, especially para athletes, to help them excel at national and international platforms. She recalled that earlier, sports equipment worth Rs 1.37 lakh had also been provided to Ranjit Singh before his participation in the Para Badminton International Championship in Nigeria, where he brought laurels to the district by winning three bronze medals.
Ms. Komal Mittal described Ranjit Singh as a promising para player and expressed confidence that he would continue to make the district and the state proud. She extended her best wishes for his success in the upcoming international championship.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ms. Geetika Singh, SDM Mohali Ms. Damandeep Kaur, SDM Kharar Ms. Divya P, and Secretary, District Red Cross Society Sh. Harbans Singh were also present on the occasion.
