Bathinda, October 11:- With the aim of ensuring the availability of blood for children suffering from thalassemia during their treatment, Dera Sacha Sauda followers organised a blood donation camp at the ID Unit today. Dera management said that the camp was organised under the directions of Dera chief Sant Dr Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji.

Under the “Blood Donation Camp for Children Suffering from Thalassemia” campaign, the camp was organised at the MSG Dera Sacha Sauda and Manavta Bhalai Kendra, located on Malout Road. During the camp, Dera devotees donated blood, while the responsibility of collecting it was undertaken by the blood bank teams of Civil Hospital, Bathinda, and Adesh Hospital, Bathinda.

Sharing details, Gurmel Singh Insan, a state committee member of Dera Sacha Sauda, said that when the Bathinda Thalassemia Welfare Society informed Dera Sacha Sauda about the shortage of blood in blood banks, Guru Ji (the Dera chief) directed the devotees to organise a blood donation camp for children suffering from thalassemia. Acting on these directions, the camp was organised today. The camp was inaugurated by Bathinda Tehsildar Kanwaldeep Singh. Darshan Kumar, secretary of the Saksham Red Cross Society; Jagdish Kumar, secretary of the Bathinda Thalassemia Welfare Society; joint secretary Kavish Kumar; and treasurer Praveen Kalra were also present on the occasion.

Appreciating the efforts of the devotees, the officials said that blood donation was a great act of charity that helped save lives. During the camp, the Civil Hospital, Bathinda, blood bank team collected 51 units of blood, while the team from Adesh Hospital, Bathinda, collected 21 units.

They said that this was not just a one-day camp. Whenever blood bank teams informed them about a shortage of blood, similar camps would be organised in the future as well. Dr Ritika, in-charge of the Civil Hospital blood bank, and Dr Anuthi from Adesh Hospital thanked Dera Sacha Sauda for organising the camp, stating that children suffering from thalassemia had a tremendous need for blood.

They said the blood donated today would help in the treatment of children suffering from thalassemia. Those present on the occasion included Dera Sacha Sauda state committee members Kulbir Insan, Jaswinder Insan, Gurdev Singh Insan, Shinderpal Insan, Sewak Insan, Rohit Insan, Amarjit Kaur Insan, Charanjit Kaur Insan, Jaswant Insan, Simran Insan, Rekha Insan, Vinod Insan, Beena Insan, Meenu Insan, Sukhwinder Insan, Sukhjinder Insan, Bimla Insan, Gurpinder Insan, Veena Insan and Jasvir Kaur Insan.
