Garhshankar, September 27:- To connect people with healthcare facilities in the villages of Garhi Mansowal and Bhawanipur in the Garhshankar Assembly constituency, Punjab Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker and Garhshankar MLA S. Jai Krishan Singh Rouri distributed health cards to eligible beneficiaries under the ‘Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana’. A large number of residents from both villages participated in the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Speaker Rouri said that health is a basic need of every family and the government’s objective is to ensure access to healthcare facilities for eligible beneficiaries. He said that under the ‘Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana’, eligible families will get free treatment facilities up to Rs. 10 lakh, which will provide financial assistance to families when treatment is required.
He said that through the health card, eligible beneficiaries will be able to avail themselves of the treatment facilities available at the healthcare institutions designated under the scheme. He encouraged people to obtain information about government health schemes and avail themselves of the facilities available according to their eligibility.
Deputy Speaker Rouri said that it is very important to take healthcare services to the village level. If people in villages receive information and assistance regarding government schemes and healthcare facilities near their homes, it helps eligible families access their entitled benefits.
During the programme, he also met the residents of Garhi Mansowal and Bhawanipur and listened to their problems. Besides health-related issues, the people also brought various demands and local issues concerning the villages to the attention of the Deputy Speaker. S. Rouri said that the genuine demands would be brought to the notice of the concerned departments and necessary steps would be taken for their resolution.
He said that development works are also being undertaken in the villages of the Garhshankar Assembly constituency keeping in view the basic needs of the people. Priority is also being given to works related to roads, drinking water, drainage arrangements, street lights, sports facilities and other public amenities.
The villagers thanked Deputy Speaker Rouri for distributing the health cards and providing information related to healthcare facilities. They said that the benefits available under the government health scheme could be helpful for eligible and needy families.
Panchayat members, party leaders and workers, officials of the concerned departments and a large number of residents of both villages were present on the occasion.
