Ratia, October 5 (Advocate Gurpreet Singh Mander):- Farmers under the banner of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan) reached the SDM office in Ratia and strongly protested against the cancellation of crop registrations in the name of crop registration verification. Farmer leaders said that a complaint had already been submitted to the administration last Friday, but even after several days, the situation remained unchanged.

During the meeting, the Ratia SDM assured the farmers that all the problems would be resolved within the next three days.

In a statement issued to the press, District President Nirbhay Singh Ratia said that the crop would be fully ripe and ready in the coming days and farmers would bring it to the mandis for sale. However, due to the cancellation of registrations in the name of verification, farmers would not be able to sell their crop at the Minimum Support Price (MSP), that is, the government-supported rate. This would cause heavy financial losses to farmers and put them in the difficult situation of having to wander from place to place in the mandi.

Issuing a final ultimatum to the administration, Nirbhay Singh Ratia warned, “If the problem is not resolved in time, hundreds of farmers will reach the Ratia SDM office on October 9 and launch an intensified dharna and protest. The fight for the rights of farmers will be taken up at every level and under no circumstances will they be allowed to suffer losses.”

Farmers present on the occasion included Urban Unit President Karmjeet Singh, Secretary Gagan Bhullar, Cashier Ashok Kamboj, Gamdur Singh, Kala Singh, Mundri Singh and others.
