Bhawanigarh/Bathinda:- The Congress Party today sounded the bugle for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections by organising a massive state-level ‘Insaaf Rally’ at village Fagguwala, located on the Bathinda-Zirakpur National Highway. The rally was organised under the arrangements of former minister Vijay Inder Singla.

Addressing the massive gathering at the 12-acre venue, Rahul Gandhi, senior national leader of the All India Congress Party and Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, said that only a Congress government could eradicate the scourge of drugs that had spread to households across Punjab due to the alleged collusion between the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government and the BJP government at the Centre.

Rahul Gandhi said that the youth of Punjab were currently in the grip of drugs, robbery and gang culture, and that the Bhagwant Mann government in Punjab had completely failed to curb these social evils. During his speech, he paused and invited Balkaur Singh, father of late renowned singer Sidhu Moosewala, who was seated on the stage, to join him. Rahul Gandhi said that Sidhu Moosewala was an outstanding singer and a personality who aspired to achieve great things, but due to the failures of the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government and the BJP government at the Centre, such young people were being lost. He called upon all party leaders and workers to unite and actively participate in the Punjab Assembly election campaign.

Meanwhile, All India Congress Committee president Mallikarjun Kharge criticised Union Home Minister Amit Shah, alleging that the supply of drugs to Punjab was taking place through a port in Gujarat. He said that if the Central Government was serious about curbing drugs, it should stop the supply originating from its own states. The rally was also addressed by Punjab Congress in-charge Sachin Pilot, state president Pargat Singh, Pratap Singh Bajwa, Charanjit Singh Channi, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, former Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, Sukhpal Singh Khaira, Dr. Dharamvira Gandhi, Dr. Amar Singh, Fateh Singh Badal and Gurjot Singh Dhindsa, among other leaders.
