Khanauri/Sangrur, September 29:- Congress faced a political setback in the Lehra Assembly constituency when Rajinder Singh Inder, former president of the Sheller Association, Khanauri Mandi, who had been associated with Bibi Rajinder Kaur Bhattal for nearly five decades, joined the Aam Aadmi Party along with hundreds of his supporters. The joining took place in the presence of Cabinet Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal and was described by the party as an important step towards strengthening its presence in the constituency.
On the occasion, Cabinet Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal welcomed Rajinder Singh Inder and his supporters and said that the joining of leaders and workers who have remained connected with people for a long time would further strengthen the AAP's base in the Lehra constituency. He said Rajinder Singh Inder's experience and association with the people would help in understanding issues of the area and raising them for resolution.
Barinder Kumar Goyal said that every person joining the Aam Aadmi Party would be given due respect. He invited the new members to further strengthen their contact with people in villages and towns and bring their needs and problems to the attention of the government. He said that listening to people and working on their concerns is the basis of the party's working approach.
The Cabinet Minister further said that the Punjab Government is making efforts to provide better facilities to people in the fields of education, health, electricity and basic infrastructure. He said that development works in the Lehra constituency and the day-to-day issues of the people are being taken forward on priority. He assured that suggestions received from the people would also be taken seriously.
On the occasion, Rajinder Singh Inder said that he had decided to join the Aam Aadmi Party after detailed discussions with his associates. He said that the relationships built with people during his five decades of public life were very important to him and that he would continue to raise the voice of the people of the area along with his associates.
Rajinder Singh Inder thanked Cabinet Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal for welcoming him into the party and said that he, along with his associates, would participate wholeheartedly in the party's activities in the Lehra constituency.
Those who joined AAP included Naresh Kumar Singla, Rom Raj Singla, Mohan Lal Arhtiya, Rimpy Singla and Prem Chand Prema, former councillor.
