Chandigarh, February 5:- Haryana Sports Minister Mr. Gaurav Gautam said that Haryana's sports policy is the best in the country and the state is the most progressive in sports. Under the Haryana Government Sports Policy, cash incentives ranging from Rs 51,000 to Rs 6 crore are provided to the players for their achievements ranging from national level competitions to Olympic medals, due to which the players are also becoming financially strong. Keeping in mind the interests of the players, the government will organize a function at Tau Devilala Stadium in Gurugram on February 9, in which Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Naib Singh Saini will honour the 38th National Games medal winners from Uttarakhand and CM Cup-2025 will also be launched.
The Sports Minister was holding a press conference at Haryana Niwas here today.
Sports Minister Mr. Gaurav Gautam said that in the felicitation ceremony, along with 48 gold, 47 silver and 58 bronze medal winners of the National Games, a total of 689 players and coaches who participated in the games will also be felicitated. On this occasion, player Savita Punia, who was recently awarded the Padma Shri Award for her outstanding contribution to Indian hockey, will also be specially felicitated.
He said that since the year 2014, an amount of about Rs. 709 crore has been given to 16970 players as cash awards and incentive money. During the year 2025-2026, an amount of more than Rs. 109 crore has been given to 662 players, so that the welfare of the players can be ensured.
He said that the state government is truly interested in the players. 1500 sports nurseries have been opened in the state, in which more than 37 thousand players practice. Apart from this, the sports department has invited applications for opening 500 more sports nurseries. The talent of the players is being nurtured in the nurseries.
He said that the mission of the Haryana Sports Department is Olympics 2036. In this, Haryana has a target of winning 36 medals. Work is also being done in this direction. In the upcoming budget, the amount will be fixed keeping in mind this mission.
He said that under the supervision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, a historic budget of the Centre has been kept, in which 33 percent has been increased for sports. He said that the state's sports stadiums are being renovated with an amount of 114 crores, out of which 70 percent of the work has been done.
On this occasion, Principal Secretary of Sports Department Haryana Mr. Vijay Singh Dahiya, Additional Director of Sports Department Mr. Ashwani Malik were present.
