Chandigarh, June 9:– Former Australian Cricket Team World Cup winning captain Michael Clarke paid a courtesy call on Haryana Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini at Sant Kabir Kutir. During the meeting, both of them discussed various topics related to the development of cricket and sports and the Chief Minister and Michael Clarke also played cricket.
During the meeting, Michael Clarke appreciated the Chief Minister’s love of sports and his enthusiasm for cricket. He said that he was very happy to meet the Chief Minister. He said that he bowled a ball towards the Chief Minister and the Chief Minister hit it for a magnificent six.
Michael Clarke said that the relations between India and Australia are very important and cooperation between the two countries can be further strengthened through the medium of sports. He said that Haryana is a land of sports talents and many world-class players have been born here. He is confident that the state has immense potential for cricket and more good cricketers will emerge from here in the future.
He said that he is keen to spend more time in Haryana so that he can impart his experience to the young players of the state. He said that the possibility of setting up a cricket academy can also be considered in the future. Michael Clarke said that he wants to work towards bringing young Australian players to India as well as Indian players to Australia, so that young cricketers of both the countries can get more opportunities to learn and gain experience at the international level.
Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini, while welcoming Michael Clarke to Haryana, said that the state government is continuously working to promote sports and provide better opportunities to the youth. He said that the guidance of international level players will prove to be inspiring for the young players of the state.
On this occasion, Chief Minister's Political Advisor Mr. Tarun Bhandari and other esteemed gentlemen were also present.
