Sunam, October 11: Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora laid the foundation stone for development works worth Rs 4.43 crore at Civil Hospital Sunam Udham Singh Wala, marking the beginning of construction. The works include construction of the hospital boundary wall, installation of a tubewell and sewerage-related works.
On the occasion, Aman Arora said that completion of these development works would further strengthen the hospital’s infrastructure and provide better facilities to patients visiting the hospital for treatment, their family members and the general public. He said that, along with treatment facilities, proper arrangements for basic necessities such as water, sanitation, sewerage and a secure environment were essential in healthcare institutions.
The Cabinet Minister explained that construction of the boundary wall would strengthen the security and upkeep of the hospital premises, while the tubewell would improve the water supply system. Similarly, the sewerage work would ensure smooth drainage of wastewater and help maintain a clean environment within the hospital.
Aman Arora said that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, was committed to providing better healthcare services to the people. He said strengthening the infrastructure of government hospitals was directly linked to public convenience and that development works were being undertaken as required in this direction.
He said, “I am always committed to the welfare and convenience of the residents of Sunam constituency. Carrying out development works according to people’s needs and providing them with better basic facilities are my priorities. The works initiated at the Civil Hospital are part of this effort.”
Sharing information about the city’s sanitation arrangements, the Cabinet Minister said that the Municipal Council had passed a resolution to purchase 25 new e-rickshaws and 15 garbage-collection tempos to improve door-to-door waste collection and transportation. He said the availability of these vehicles would further strengthen the waste collection system.
He explained that, under the plan, two or three primary garbage dumping points located along streets and main roads would be removed, and waste would be transported directly to the main dumping ground on Bakshiwala Road. This would reduce the problem of garbage heaps in the city and improve the sanitation system. He also appealed to city residents to cooperate in maintaining cleanliness.
Regarding ownership rights for shopkeepers, Aman Arora said that cases of eligible shopkeepers who had been in possession of their shops for more than 12 years were being processed under the Punjab Government’s policy. He said that work on approximately 47–48 shops in Sunam’s New Market had been underway for the past one-and-a-half to two years, and the relevant process had now been completed. Eligible shopkeepers can submit the required documents and prescribed amount in accordance with the policy and, after completing the necessary formalities, have the properties registered in their names.
On the occasion, the Cabinet Minister extended warm greetings to all the people of Punjab on the holy occasion of Navratri and prayed that Mata Rani bless everyone with good health, happiness, peace and prosperity.
