Mumbai:- BJP will dominate Maharashtra politics as BJP registered a landslide victory in the municipal elections of Mumbai and Pune. BJP has emerged as the single largest party in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, which was under the control of Shiv Sena for almost three decades. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has thanked the people of the state for the landslide victory of the BJP-led NDA alliance in the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation elections.
The Prime Minister said in a post on X that the people of Maharashtra have given their stamp on the NDA's people-friendly governance and development agenda. He said that these results show that the BJP alliance's relationship with the people of the state has become deeper. He said that the people have voted to accelerate the pace of progress and celebrate the glorious culture of Maharashtra.
The BJP-led alliance is expected to win about 125 seats out of 227. The Mumbai Municipal Corporation is the richest municipal corporation in the country, with a budget of about Rs 74,427 crore for 2025-26. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Fadnavis said, "This victory shows the trust of the people of Maharashtra in the alliance led by Prime Minister Modi and the BJP." He said that the victory was possible only with the blessings of Balasaheb.
With the good performance of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena, the BJP has now got more strength to take over the power of the municipal corporation. In this election, the Thackeray brothers had reunited after almost two decades, but the results dashed their hopes.
In the Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation elections, the BJP has also made a big lead, leaving behind the alliance of the NCP and the NCP (SP). Under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the BJP has also surpassed the previous record of 82 seats in the 2017 BMC elections.
The success of the BJP's "Mission Mumbai" has established the party as a major political force in the financial capital of the country. In BMC, which was considered a stronghold of Shiv Sena for years, These results indicate a major change in power in Mumbai.
