Viresh Shandilya presented the honour to Anil Vij at Gandhi Maidan in Ambala Cantonment, the venue of the rally. On this occasion, the Front’s National General Secretary Navrattan Garg, Balkesh Vats, Robin Dhiman and other office-bearers were also present.
Viresh Shandilya said that by building the Shaheed Memorial, Anil Vij had taken an initiative to connect the younger generation of the country with the ideals of the martyrs, so that young people could learn how the country attained independence and how much suffering its brave soldiers endured. He said that since the country's independence and the formation of Haryana, Anil Vij was the first MLA and minister to have built a Shaheed Memorial in Ambala in honour of the brave soldiers of the 1857 Revolt. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had dedicated the memorial to the country's 1.4 billion people in the presence of Anil Vij. He said that surely, after visiting this memorial, people across the country would be moved to tears and would learn how independence was achieved, how the Tricolour was won, how the Constitution came into being and how many sacrifices the sons of Mother India made. Along with this, Viresh Shandilya has demanded that Anil Vij be conferred the Padma Shri for his social service, dedication to patriotism, construction of the Shaheed Memorial and work in the public interest. In this regard, Viresh Shandilya has also sent a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
