Chandigarh:- Amid discussions over a possible alliance between the Shiromani Akali Dal and the BJP in Punjab, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, two days after his visit to the state, claimed that the NDA would form the government in Punjab following the 2027 Assembly elections.

Shah made the remarks while launching a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) at an event in Delhi. He said he had visited Punjab two days earlier, where, he alleged, the drug trade was flourishing on a large scale under the patronage of the AAP government. He claimed that the people of Punjab had made up their minds to elect an NDA government in the 2027 Assembly elections.

Launching a scathing attack on AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, Shah said the politics of excuses would no longer work. He said, “Kejriwal lost the elections in Delhi and has now established himself in Punjab. He is not allowing even the Punjab Chief Minister to work and has disrupted the functioning of the state.” He claimed that the AAP was heading for a complete rout and said the BJP would eliminate the drug menace from Punjab by 2029.

It is worth mentioning that the Punjab Assembly elections are approaching, and the state has become a major focus for all political parties.

Meanwhile, political parties are increasingly raising issues related to drugs and the law-and-order situation in Punjab. Against this backdrop, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has repeatedly launched sharp attacks on the AAP over the drug menace and the law-and-order situation in the state.

During his earlier visit to Punjab, Shah also met the family of Parvinder Singh Jhota. This indicates that the BJP is preparing to launch an intensive campaign for the Punjab Assembly elections.
