Patiala (Manpreet Singh):- On the occasion of Diwali, Aggarwal Chetna Sabha distributed stationery among students at Government Victoria Senior Secondary School, Patiala, and urged them to celebrate a Green Diwali. The students were encouraged to protect the environment, avoid pollution and ensure that young children burst firecrackers only under the supervision of their parents.
The Sabha members said that the environment becomes polluted due to stubble burning and the use of firecrackers during Diwali. It is important to protect ourselves from such pollution, as an unclean environment can lead to the spread of diseases. They also stressed the need to avoid plastic carry bags as much as possible and use cloth and jute bags instead.
They said that after harvesting crops in villages, stubble is often set on fire, which pollutes the environment and causes difficulty in breathing. Therefore, they advised everyone to celebrate Diwali with green firecrackers and adopt environment-friendly practices so that the surroundings remain clean and people stay protected from diseases.
On this occasion, the message of Green Diwali was conveyed by lighting candles and sparklers. Shri Vijay Kumar Goyal (Patron), Aggarwal Chetna Sabha; Shri Rajesh Garg (Principal, Victoria School); Dinesh Kumar, Ruchig Jindal and Ritu Jindal participated in the programme. On the occasion, National Award recipient Dinesh Kumar was specially honoured.
