Chandigarh- ADGP Y. Puran Kumar's funeral took place on the ninth day. Before the cremation, the body was taken from his Sector 24 residence. With the consent of his wife, Amneet Kumar, the post-mortem was conducted at the Public Health Inspector General of Police (PGI) under heavy security and under the supervision of IG Pushpendra Singh.
The 31-member committee formed to investigate the case expressed satisfaction with the government's decision to send DGP Shatrughan Kapoor on leave. The committee stated that this step is a step in the right direction towards justice. 
They also appealed to all organizations protesting the case to continue their struggle with peace and restraint.
