Ambala, October 11 (R. Singh):- Dr. Sumita Misra, Additional Chief Secretary of the Health, AYUSH and Revenue Departments, made a surprise visit to Civil Hospital Ambala Cantt today and gathered information about the facilities being provided to patients.

On the occasion, Dr. Misra said that the Health Department was working to improve emergency services and other medical facilities in all civil hospitals across the state. During the inspection, she first enquired about the arrangements at the registration counter and directed the Civil Surgeon to install QR codes to facilitate patient registration. She then interacted with patients admitted to the general and emergency wards to learn about the medical facilities being provided to them. Dr. Ritika, who was on duty, provided the Additional Chief Secretary with all the information related to the patients' treatment. She also enquired about hospital cleanliness and gave necessary guidance on maintaining hygiene. She emphasised that, alongside providing better medical facilities to patients, proper cleanliness must be maintained to ensure a better environment.

Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Sumita Misra enquired with the Civil Surgeon and Chief Medical Officer about staff availability, medicines and other arrangements. The Civil Surgeon informed her that the required staff was available and that there was an adequate stock of medicines. The Additional Chief Secretary also sought an update on the renovation work at Civil Hospital Ambala City and the progress of the newly constructed hospital. The Civil Surgeon said that the renovation work at Civil Hospital Ambala City had been completed and that the hospital's expansion from 200 to 300 beds was also complete. The upgraded facility would be inaugurated soon and dedicated to the public.

During the inspection, Dr. Sumita Misra also enquired about MRI, CT scan and other facilities. She instructed the Civil Surgeon and other officials to ensure close monitoring of the work, even though it was being carried out under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode, and said that no negligence should be tolerated. She emphasised that all operations should be supervised by senior doctors. Dr. Misra also stated that all arrangements were found to be satisfactory during the inspection and that medical services were running smoothly. She added that necessary directions had been issued to doctors to ensure better public access to medical services. The state government was working to improve healthcare, she said, adding that providing the best possible medical facilities to the public was a government priority.

SDM Kanika Goyal, Civil Surgeon Dr. Renu Beri, PMO Dr. Pooja, Dr. Sameer Singla, Dr. Yashpal, Director of Atal Cancer Care Centre, Ambala Cantonment, District AYUSH Officer Dr. Satpal and other concerned officials were present on the occasion.
