Hoshiarpur:- A press conference was held under the chairmanship of BJP District President Nipun Sharma. Former Union Minister of State Som Parkash Kainth released the party's manifesto for the Municipal Corporation elections, stating that it is not merely a document of electoral promises but a roadmap for the better future of Hoshiarpur's residents and a charge sheet against the failures of Punjab's Aam Aadmi Party government. The BJP stated that over the past four and a half years, the Punjab government has disappointed the public on every front—development, law and order, health, employment, and municipal administration. The time has come for the public to give a democratic response to this anti-people government.
The BJP stated that the manifesto clearly pledges clean administration, a transparent Municipal Corporation, modern infrastructure, improved healthcare services, opportunities for the youth, women's safety, protection of the interests of traders and employees, and balanced development across every ward. The BJP's goal is not politics, but public service and the holistic development of the city.
The BJP alleged that more than 700 contractual sanitation workers in Hoshiarpur have not been regularized since 2012, whereas all previous governments had regularized employees during their tenures. The Aam Aadmi Party made grand promises before coming to power, yet today, employees are forced to struggle for their rights.
The BJP noted that, according to the NCRB report, Punjab ranks first in the country for deaths caused by drug overdoses. A video released by Manpreet Singh (alias Nanna) from Hoshiarpur's Jeju Colony has brought to light serious allegations of collusion between jail officials and gangsters. If there is truth to these allegations, it casts a serious shadow over Punjab's law and order situation, and the government must immediately order an impartial inquiry.
The BJP stated that the repeated incidents of vandalism targeting the statue of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar in Hoshiarpur are extremely unfortunate. Whether it was the incident during the previous municipal corporation elections or the vandalism of the Babasaheb statue in March 2025, the government has failed to ensure strict punishment for the culprits to date. This has deeply hurt the sentiments of the Dalit community.
The BJP alleged that public tax money was misused in the ?1.57 crore renovation project of the Shimla Pahari Chowk. Government resources were blatantly misused by displaying Aam Aadmi Party flags, posters of leaders, and political campaign material funded by the public exchequer.
The BJP stated that it is extremely unfortunate that MRI machines have not yet been made available in Hoshiarpur's government hospitals. Patients are forced to seek expensive treatment at private hospitals, placing an additional financial burden on the poor and middle class.
The BJP remarked that the Aam Aadmi Party government has pushed Punjab towards false propaganda, corruption, deteriorating law and order, and a lack of development. The Chief Minister and his ministers are preoccupied with publicity, while the public struggles for basic amenities.
The BJP expressed confidence that in the municipal corporation elections, the people of Hoshiarpur would place their trust in the BJP's manifesto, vote for development, transparency, and good governance, and deliver a democratic response to the Punjab government's failures.
