Hoshiarpur- Under the ongoing "War Against Drugs" campaign in the district, Hoshiarpur Police has achieved major success and arrested a notorious criminal Neeraj Kumar alias Ranjha. The police have also recovered three illegal weapons from his possession. Giving information in this regard, SSP Hoshiarpur Sandeep Kumar Malik said during a press conference today that this operation was carried out on the basis of special confidential information. This operation was made successful under the leadership of SP (D) Dr. Mukesh Kumar, DSP Sukhninder Singh and CIA in-charge Inspector Gurpreet Singh. SSP Malik said that Neeraj alias Ranjha was already suspected of having links with gangsters involved in drug trafficking and arms dealing. On receiving a tip-off, the police team took prompt action and nabbed him. The three illegal weapons recovered from him were likely to be used in some major criminal incident. The SSP also said that this arrest is not just an incident but part of the ongoing campaign against drugs and crime. "Our aim is to break the supply line of drugs and the structure of gangsters associated with it," he said. Neeraj's investigation is ongoing and the police expect many more revelations. It is suspected that he was linked to a big inter-state network. The police are also taking action to identify other possible accomplices. The recovered weapons have been sent for forensic examination and a case has been registered in the case under various sections of the Arms Act and the Indian Penal Code. This success is being considered a major achievement for the police in the war on drugs and a strong message has been delivered to criminals in society.
