Hoshiarpur- As part of the series of works being carried out by the Punjab government to strengthen the infrastructure in the cities, the Municipal Corporation Hoshiarpur installed street lights from the local Tanda Chowk to Bhagwan Valmiki Chowk at a cost of Rs 16.14 lakh. Which was inaugurated by MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa on Saturday evening. After inaugurating the street lights along with Mayor Surinder Kumar Shinda, MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa said that the Punjab government is continuously carrying out development works to further strengthen and upgrade the infrastructure in villages and cities. He said that due to lack of lighting on the road from Tanda Road to Bhagwan Valmiki Chowk, people coming and going used to face problems, keeping this in mind, the Municipal Corporation completed this work. He said that in the first phase, 30 street lights have been installed, which will provide convenience to the people during night time and foggy weather, and in the coming days, street lights are also being installed in other areas of the city, so that the people do not have to face any inconvenience. MLA Jimpa said that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is continuously working to further strengthen the infrastructure, under which new sewage treatment plants with a capacity of 607 megaliters per day are being set up at a cost of about Rs 650 crore, which will be completed in about one and a half years. He said that as part of the series of further improvements in urban infrastructure, about Rs 450 crore has been released for the ongoing development works in the areas of various municipal corporations during the current financial year. He said that work is also underway for the availability of other basic facilities. In which Rs 401.73 crore was released to urban local bodies for solid waste management machinery under Swachh Bharat Mission and 730 machines have been purchased in the state for cleaning sewers in the past few days. Reiterating the commitment of the Municipal Corporation to ensure every necessary facility in Hoshiarpur city, MLA Jimpa said that the Punjab government will ensure basic facilities in every area of ​​the city. He said that recently they have started new tubewells for water supply, which has removed the water shortage in the concerned areas.
