Nawanshahr- Environment Conservation Society Regd: celebrated Baba Deep Singh Ji's birthday by planting trees in Barandari Bagh. On this occasion, 13 plants of different varieties like Silver Oak, Bottle Burs, Lahaj, Stomaia, Chakrasia etc. were planted.
Speaking on the occasion, General Secretary Tarlochan Singh and President Jaswant Singh Bhati said that many trees are being cut in the name of development, urbanization and commercialization, which is a matter of concern. Due to the decrease in the number of trees, the number of respiratory and skin diseases is increasing. On this occasion, Resham Singh and Cashier Kuldeep Kumar said that if the number of trees is not increased, Punjab will turn into a desert forest. It will become difficult for the coming generations to breathe.
Due to the decrease in the number of trees, the water level is going down every year. We all should plant at least five trees every year and also take care of them. Lalit Sharma, Narinder Sharma, Arun Bali, Dharampal Bali, Satpal Ammi and Rajinder Saini were present on this occasion.
