Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, September 11: To strengthen the role of school counselors and to chart the future course of students, the District Employment and Industries Bureau organized School Counselors Meet 2025 at Amity University Punjab, SAS Nagar today. This program was jointly organized by District Employment and Industries Bureau-cum-Model Career Center SAS Nagar and District Education Officer Office SAS Nagar, whose theme was “The Future Architects”.
Experts from various fields participated in this event and shared their views on the future, psychological health and career opportunities of students. The event was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Smt. Sonam Chaudhary by lighting the lamp.
Dr. Ginni Duggal, District Education Officer (Secondary Education), in her address said that counsellors act as a bridge between students, teachers and parents. She said that if proper guidance is given at the school level, students can make informed decisions regarding their career and life.
Parvinder Singh, CTO Masters India, gave information about new possibilities based on technology and AI. She said that counsellors should motivate students towards digital skills, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Japneet Bakshi, Clinical Psychologist, spoke about the increasing psychological problems among students and the need for the help of professional psychologists in schools. She emphasized that psychological well-being is very important for building self-confidence and tolerance of students.
Dr. Jaspreet Kaur Majithia, Dean, Amity Law School, Amity University, discussed the changes coming in legal education and professional standards. He encouraged the counsellors to guide students towards fields like law, policy and administration.
Manik Raj Singla, Career Counsellor and Consultant, discussed the changing career trends and stressed the need to equip students not only with academics but also with life skills and adaptability.
Yadvinder Singh, Camp Adjutant, C-PYET, spoke about opportunities for youth in discipline, leadership and defence services. He encouraged students to choose careers that are linked to personal development as well as service to the nation. He informed that free coaching is available at the C-PYET campus for such courses.
Counsellors, teachers and education experts from various schools of the district participated in the programme in large numbers. Discussions were held during interactive sessions and new ways of guiding students were discussed.
At the end of the event, it was exhorted that school counselors are the real guides of the future and their role is very important in preparing the students as a trustworthy, skilled and responsible generation. About 350 school heads including counselors participated in the program.
Deputy Director, Employment Generation and Training, SAS Nagar Harpreet Singh Manshahian, Employment Generation and Training Officer, Sukhman Mann presented the certificates of appreciation to the keynote speakers. Shaheed Major Harminder Singh Government College Mohali representative, Prof Rashmi Prabhakar, Government College Derabassi Prof Meghna, Nabiha Khan, Career Counselor, Rosy Singla Young Professional, Gurpreet Sodhi Punjab Skill Development Mission were also present.
