DEOGARH- More than 50 devotees who had gathered for Giri Govardhan Puja (a Hindu festival) in Jarchat village of Para panchayat of Raymal block of Devgarh district of Odisha were injured due to lightning. Three of them are in critical condition.
12 of the injured were admitted to Chhindipara Community Health Centre. Three of the seriously injured are being treated at Kosla Community Health Centre.
More than a hundred devotees had gathered on the top of Chitrakoot mountain near Jarchat village for Giri Govardhan Puja. Lightning struck around 4 pm on Saturday with rain and thunder, causing the devotees to fall unconscious on the ground.
After some time, the conscious people came down from the mountain. 15 of the injured fell unconscious and remained on the mountain. The villagers took the remaining unconscious devotees down from the mountain.
