Patiala, October 23: Today, on the call of 18 farmer organizations of North India, Bharatiya Kisan Union Krantikari and Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta (Azad) burnt the effigy of the Central Government and corporate houses at Green Park Colony near Pasiana Bridge.

Patiala, October 23: Today, on the call of 18 farmer organizations of North India, Bharatiya Kisan Union Krantikari and Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta (Azad) burnt the effigy of the Central Government and corporate houses at Green Park Colony near Pasiana Bridge. Addressing the rally, Gurdev Singh Gajumajra, Ranjit Singh Swajpur, Karnail Singh Lang, Jarnail Singh Kaleke, Yadvinder Singh Burad, Satwant Singh Wajidpur, Balkar Singh Tarora Khurd, Vikramjit Singh Arnon, Kuldeep Singh Baras, Shiv Ratan, Bhagwant Singh Samana, Chamkaur. Singh Ghanurki, Subedar Joginder Singh etc. addressed and demanded that MSP guarantee law should be made on the purchase of all crops and the rate of all crops should be given with the formula of C2+50% as per the report of Dr. Swaminathan Commission. The Central Government should issue a special package of Rs 50 thousand crore for North India. A high level inquiry committee should be constituted to investigate the causes of floods and appropriate action should be taken against the culprits by investigating unnatural causes like construction of buildings in drainage drains, tampering with the natural flow of rivers etc. According to the Ghaggar scheme, the damage caused by the rivers of Haryana and Punjab every year should be rectified. Compensation of Rs 50 thousand per acre should be given for crops damaged by floods, Rs 10 lakh for loss of life, Rs 1 lakh for dead cattle and Rs 5 lakh for collapsed houses of farmers and labourers. Apart from this, many other demands were made.
