Chandigarh- The political storm over the real estate project proposed in 7.7 acres area of Manimajra in Municipal Corporation Chandigarh is not taking the name of stopping. A direct confrontation has come to the fore between BJP Chandigarh Vice President Davinder Singh Babla and Municipal Corporation Senior Deputy Mayor Jasbir Singh Bunty on this project.
Here BJP leader Davinder Singh Babla says that Bunty had earlier supported the project and is now opposing it, while Jasbir Singh Bunty has rejected it calling it a "white lie".
What happened in the 351st House Meeting?
Jasbir Singh Bunty clarified that there was no discussion on the real estate project in the 351st House Meeting of the Municipal Corporation. Only a supplementary agenda was brought in that meeting, which said that the farmers whose land has been acquired for the project will be given the benefit of the quota. Bunty said that he had supported this agenda because it was in the interest of the farmers. But this does not mean at all that he supported the entire real estate project.
Sharp opposition in the 352nd House Meeting:-
Bunty said that when this project was presented in the 352nd Municipal Corporation House Meeting, he had strongly opposed it.
He says that during that time he was thrown out of the House and later this project was passed.
Bunty's counterattack - questions on BJP vice-president
Senior Deputy Mayor Jasbir Singh Bunty called the allegations of BJP vice-president Davinder Singh Babla baseless. He says that Babla has no formal right to speak on this issue. Davinder Singh Babla is not a part of the corporation, he is probably under the illusion that he is the mayor, not his wife.
Bunty raised the question that why the Municipal Corporation Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla, who brought this project to the House, is still silent on this matter. He said that the Mayor should give her explanation publicly. He said that if the Mayor feels that she is so capable then she should call a meeting of the Municipal Corporation and discuss this issue again. Why are the opposition councillors thrown out by calling the marshals and the agenda is passed without discussion. Why is she avoiding the questions of the opposition?
