
Range Anti-Narcotic cum Special Operation Cell arrests Nigerian national with 255 grams of cocaine,10.25 grams of MDMA (Ecstasy) pills also recovered with a drug money of Rs 2 Lakh
SAS Nagar, September 15: As a part of the ongoing campaign “War Against Drugs”, spearheaded by the Punjab Government and Director General of Police, Punjab, and under the able guidance of Shri Harcharan Singh Bhullar, IPS, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Ropar Range, the Range Anti-Narcotic cum Special Operation Cell, Ropar Range has achieved a major success by arresting a Nigerian national involved in drug trafficking.
SAS Nagar, September 15: As a part of the ongoing campaign “War Against Drugs”, spearheaded by the Punjab Government and Director General of Police, Punjab, and under the able guidance of Shri Harcharan Singh Bhullar, IPS, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Ropar Range, the Range Anti-Narcotic cum Special Operation Cell, Ropar Range has achieved a major success by arresting a Nigerian national involved in drug trafficking.
Divulging the details, DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar said that the accused was found in possession of 255 grams of Cocaine, 10.25 grams of MDMA (Ecstasy) pills which is International Drug and Rs 2,00,000 in Indian currency as drug money.
Giving details of Operation, he further said that on 12-09-2025, acting on a specific intelligence input, Inspector Sukhwinder Singh, In-charge of the Range Anti-Narcotics cum Special Operations Cell, Camp at Mohali, along with his team, was present near Preet Karyana Store, G.T.B. Colony, Kharar, District S.A.S. Nagar. At around 11:45, a reliable informer tipped off that a Nigerian national named Augustine Okwudili s/o Elodimuo Okwundili R/o Nigeria was actively selling cocaine to his regular customers in GTB Colony.
A raid was immediately conducted, and the accused Augustine Okwudili was apprehended with 255 grams of cocaine in his possession. Based on the recovery, an FIR No. 343 dated 13-09-2025 under sections 21/61/85 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station City Kharar, District S.A.S. Nagar.
During the arrest, police also recovered Rs 2,00,000 in cash, believed to be drug proceeds.
Stating about the investigation and further recovery, he added that the accused was presented before the hon'ble Court, Kharar, on 13-09-2025, and 2 days of police remand was obtained for further investigation. During custodial interrogation, the accused confessed that a further quantity of the synthetic drug was concealed in his Scooter (Reg. No. PB-65-Y-7161). Upon checking the vehicle, the police recovered 10.25 grams of MDMA (Ecstasy) pills which is International Drug.
Initial investigation has revealed that both Cocaine and MDMA(Ecstasy) were being sold at premium prices in high-profile circles and private parties across Mohali, Chandigarh, and Panchkula. These drugs are suspected to have been smuggled via cross-border parcel routes.
Efforts are underway to identify the source from where the accused procured cocaine and MDMA(Ecstasy) besides tracking the distribution network
and identifying and arresting other accomplices involved in this drug racket. A comprehensive backward and forward linkage investigation is currently being conducted to dismantle the entire network.
