Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond, PAU Vice-Chancellor Satbir Singh Gosal and Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal pay homage to Comedian Jaswinder Bhalla

SAS Nagar, August 23: Punjab’s Minister for Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Sh. Tarunpreet Singh Sond, today paid rich tributes to renowned comedian Jaswinder Bhalla, describing him as an exceptional human being and a true pride of Punjab. He said that Bhalla brought endless smiles to the faces of people and will always be remembered for his legendary role as Chacha Chatar Singh. “Your words, your performances, and your unique acting will remain alive in our memories forever,” the Minister said.

Attending the last rites, Minister Sond remarked that Jaswinder Bhalla dedicated over 40 years of his life to Punjabi culture, and his departure has left a void that can never be filled. “Wherever Punjabis are in the world, there is a wave of grief today,” he said, adding that Bhalla’s trio with Bal Mukund Sharma and Neelu in popular comedy video series will remain evergreen in people’s hearts.
Vice-Chancellor of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, while paying his respects, said that PAU will always be proud of its alumnus and former faculty member who created a distinctive global identity through his satire and comedy. “Although Jaswinder Bhalla has physically departed, his creative work will continue to keep his memories alive,” he said.
Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal, along with Municipal Commissioner Parminder Pal Singh, laid a floral wreath and said that Jaswinder Bhalla’s contribution as a comedian, teacher, and actor will never be forgotten. She added that his sudden demise is an irreparable loss to Punjabi society and culture.
The funeral was also attended by UK MP Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, MLA Kulwant Singh, Punjab Food Commission Chairman and Bhalla’s longtime colleague Bal Mukund Sharma, DIG Ropar Range Harcharan Singh Bhullar, and noted artists and singers including Mohammad Sadiq, Hans Raj Hans, Gippy Grewal, Jasbir Jassi, Binnu Dhillon, Karamjit Anmol, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Amar Noorie, Malkit Singh Rouni, B.N. Sharma and many others.
