
6 Amarnath pilgrims injured in accident in Ramban, Jammu and Kashmir.
Ramban/Jammu, July 5- Officials said that at least six Amarnath pilgrims suffered minor injuries in an accident involving three buses in Ramban district on Saturday. The buses belonging to the Amarnath Yatra were part of a convoy going from Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu to Pahalgam base camp in south Kashmir.
Ramban/Jammu, July 5- Officials said that at least six Amarnath pilgrims suffered minor injuries in an accident involving three buses in Ramban district on Saturday. The buses belonging to the Amarnath Yatra were part of a convoy going from Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu to Pahalgam base camp in south Kashmir.
The officials said that the accident took place near Chandrakut on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. They said that the accident occurred due to brake failure of one of the buses which then hit two other vehicles. The injured were given immediate medical aid. Officials said that after replacing the damaged buses, the convoy left for its destination.
Meanwhile, between 3.30 am and 4.05 am today, the fourth batch of 6,979 pilgrims left Bhagwati Nagar base camp in two separate convoys. This batch includes 5,196 men, 1,427 women, 24 children, 331 sadhus and sadhvis and one transgender pilgrim. Of these, 4,226 pilgrims left in 161 vehicles for the 48 km long traditional Pahalgam route to Nunwan base camp. On the other hand, 2,753 pilgrims left in 151 vehicles for the shorter but steeper 14 km Baltal route.
