Total installed capacity of rooftop solar in Punjab so far is 430 MW-MLA Sherry Kalsi

Batala, January 7- Young MLA of Batala and Working President of Punjab Amansher Singh Sherry Kalsi said that recognizing the significant contribution of PSPCL, the Government of India has given a financial award of Rs 11.39 crore to the corporation for successful addition of 60.51 MW in the state's rooftop solar power during the financial year 2022-23. This capacity addition is expected to generate around 2.4 lakh units of solar power per day, which is a significant step towards Punjab's adoption of clean and sustainable energy.

Highlighting the significant progress made in the capacity of rooftop solar capacity, MLA Sherry Kalsi said that there has also been an impressive addition of 86 MW during the financial year 2023-24. He said that this has taken the total installed capacity of rooftop solar in Punjab to 430 MW, which reflects the state's commitment towards renewable energy. Highlighting the multi-faceted benefits of this achievement, he said that the solar power generated from this capacity addition will bring down the electricity bills of PSPCL consumers significantly and will also greatly benefit the environment.
He appealed to the domestic consumers of the state to install rooftop solar systems and avail the subsidy of Rs 30,000 per kWh for first 2 kWh, Rs 18,000 per kWh for 2 kW to 3 kWh and a total of Rs 78,000 for 3 kW. MLA Sherry Kalsi further said that PSPCL has launched a dedicated nodal office to facilitate the adoption of rooftop solar.
