OREM- US President Donald Trump announced today that the suspect in the Charlie Kirk murder case has been captured. He said it is a significant breakthrough in the investigation into a targeted killing that has created new threats to political violence in the United States.

“I can say with complete confidence, we have him,” Trump announced in an interview aired on Fox News Channel Friday morning. Trump said that a minister, who is involved in law enforcement, has handed over the suspect to authorities. The president said, “Someone very close to him said, ‘This is him.’”
A law enforcement official said that the suspect detained in connection with Kirk’s murder is a 22-year-old Utah resident. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the suspect has been identified as Tyler Robinson.
The FBI and the Justice Department did not immediately comment on the matter. Kirk was shot and killed on Wednesday in what police said was a targeted attack. Kirk was the co-founder of the nonprofit political organization Turning Point USA and a close Trump ally.
