Patiala, November 9: The district administration and police have stepped up stricter against burning of stubble and waste in fields. Against such incidents of arson, the police have registered four cases under sections 188 and 283 of the IPC against unidentified persons in the police station Tripdi, Sadar Patiala, Bakshiwala and Sadar Nabha.
These incidents of setting fire to stubble and waste pits in the fields occurred at Sewana, Rongla, on Long Link Road (Tripari), village Aliwal (Sadar Patiala), village Bibipur (Bakhshiwala) and village Doda on the road to Udha (Sadar Nabha) happened. In this regard, cases have been registered against unknown persons in the above police stations. Ghagga police have registered a case against a shopkeeper for setting fire to junk in front of his shop. The district administration is constantly appealing to the farmers not to set fire to the stubble and waste in the fields because the pollution condition is already very bad and the increasing pollution is giving rise to many diseases.
