Haryana government stands by citizens during natural calamities, releases Rs 3.26 crore for immediate relief measures - Chief Minister.

Chandigarh, September 8 - Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Naib Singh Saini said that the government has approved a total amount of Rs 3 crore 26 lakh as a reserve fund to the districts for immediate relief measures to the people affected by flood-like situations caused by heavy rains in the state. This amount is being used to provide food, clothes, temporary shelters, tents, fodder for animals and petrol, diesel and other essential items to the affected people, transport of relief materials and water drainage works in rural areas.

The Chief Minister was addressing a press conference after an informal meeting of the Cabinet here today.
Mr. Naib Singh Saini said that it is a matter of sorrow that 13 people of the state lost their lives due to house collapse in this natural calamity. These include four in Fatehabad district, three in Bhiwani, two each in Kurukshetra and Yamunanagar and one each in Hisar and Faridabad. The government has immediately released an ex-gratia amount of Rs 52 lakh to provide financial assistance to the bereaved families. An amount of Rs 4 lakh will be given to the family of each person. Apart from this, Rs 2 lakh has also been provided to the injured as assistance. The Chief Minister said that the government has opened the e-Shatipurti portal to reduce the hardships faced by the citizens due to the floods. Its objective is to make the process of submitting applications for their losses easier by the general public. It also aims to bring transparency in the system of time-bound verification of the losses suffered by the affected people and the distribution of compensation. So far, 2 lakh 53 thousand 440 farmers from 5217 villages of the state have registered 14 lakh 91 thousand 130 acres of area on the Shatipurti portal. The work of verification of this area is in progress.
He said that due to the floods, the people of the district will have to leave their homes, relief camps have been set up for such people. In the areas where water has flooded, compensation of up to Rs 15 thousand per acre will be given for damaged crops. If there is a shortage of green fodder in such areas, then to overcome this problem, it has been decided to order dry fodder from those districts, which do not have the problem of waterlogging.
The Chief Minister said that instructions have been given to all the Deputy Commissioners to conduct a survey of the houses that have collapsed and have required damage in the waterlogged areas. Apart from this, if the houses of the families who have been in possession of panchayat land or other such land for 20 years have been damaged, then a list will also be prepared and they will also be provided with financial assistance.
He said that the government has sent teams of doctors to the affected areas and made extensive arrangements for their medical care. Health facilities are being provided to the affected people by organizing medical camps. He appealed to the general public to take care of the cleanliness of water in this situation and boil water before drinking.
The Chief Minister said that in this time of crisis, the government is standing shoulder to shoulder with the people and they are continuously working to provide all possible assistance. In case of any damage, financial assistance will be provided to the affected people as per the rules.

The Chief Minister said that in the last 2 days, he himself has visited the flooded villages and taken stock of the situation and talked to the people. At the ground level, cotton, paddy and bajra crops have been damaged. For this, the officials have also been instructed to get mapping done using drones. He said that the situation in the state is under control and the officials and employees are providing necessary facilities and assistance to the people with utmost care.
