Una, September 6- A very complex and challenging surgery was successfully performed today (Saturday) at Zonal Veterinary Hospital Barnoh. During this surgery, 28 kg plastic, clothes, ropes and various metal pieces including 41 nails were removed from the stomach of a pregnant cow.
This operation was performed by Dr. Stephanie, Dr. Nikita Chaudhary, Ramesh Chand, Simran and Mahabir Singh under the leadership of hospital in-charge Dr. Nishant Ranaut and Dr. Shilpa Ranaut. Dr. Nishant Ranaut said that after the surgery, the cow will be kept under the observation of veterinarians for seven days to ensure improvement in its health.
He said that the pregnant cow was brought to the hospital by Vipin Kumar, a resident of Kalruhi and other local people. The cow had stopped eating and drinking water for the last 4-5 days. In the initial investigation, the doctors suspected the presence of unnatural objects in its stomach. After this, after blood test and other tests, it was decided to do the surgery immediately.

*Deputy Director appealed to the people to dispose of the waste properly
Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry Department, Una, Dr Virendra Patial congratulated the team of doctors for this successful operation. He appealed to the people not to throw plastic waste, nails and other metal materials in the open. Dispose of the waste in the right way so that the protection of both animals and the environment can be ensured.
Dr Patial said that Zonal Veterinary Hospital Barnoh is the referral hospital of three districts. Four specialist doctors are providing services here. So far, 53 complex surgeries like large diaphragmatic hernia have been successfully done in the institute. Modern facilities like every type of animal surgery, blood test, and ultrasound are available here, due to which this hospital has emerged as a major center in the region for the treatment of large animals.
