Una, August 22- Una district is rapidly progressing on the path of TB elimination. Setting the target of 'TB free Una', the Health Department has started concrete initiatives towards declaring 200 panchayats as TB free this year. To realize this objective, the District Tuberculosis Department has accelerated efforts based on modern technology, strong schemes and community participation.

New pace in investigation-
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sanjeev Verma says that in the year 2015, only 655 people per lakh population could be tested in the district, while the target has been set to increase this number to 5000 per lakh by 2025. At present, tuberculosis is being tested with the help of state-of-the-art technology in five hospitals of Una district.
He says that in the year 2024, 29,176 potential patients were examined, out of which 802 patients were found to be suffering from tuberculosis. At the same time, till 31 July 2025, 15,271 potential patients have been examined, out of which 540 patients have been confirmed. Continuous efforts are being made to ensure timely treatment and nutritional support by identifying the patients early.
So far 105 panchayats of the district have been declared tuberculosis free. These panchayats have been honored with bronze and silver statues of Mahatma Gandhi at the district level. The target is to increase this number to 200 panchayats in the coming time.

Special campaign of 100 days-
District Tuberculosis Control Officer Dr. Vishal Thakur Batte said that a special 100-day tuberculosis free campaign is also going on in the district these days. Under this campaign, 51,665 X-rays have been done so far and a target of more than one lakh X-rays has been set. During the same period, 81 new tuberculosis patients have also been registered.
Dr. Vishal said that all patients are given Rs. 1000 per month under the Nikshay Poshan Yojana, while patients in the serious category are also provided additional assistance of Rs. 1500 under the Chief Minister's Tuberculosis Prevention Scheme.

Community participation is the key to success-
The administration is also playing an active role in making this campaign successful. Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal says that community participation and public awareness are the real keys to the success of this campaign.
Along with the Health Department, the Education Department, Women and Child Development Department and various social organizations have also been associated with this campaign, so that the target can be achieved through collective efforts.
