Police seized cash from a car in Kutlahad area , driver could not give a satisfactory answer

Checking campaigns are being conducted at various places to prevent the possibility of use of money power in the elections. Administration and police teams are vigilantly and thoroughly checking the vehicles entering the district boundary.

Una, 8 April:- The entire administrative staff in Una district is continuously active to ensure compliance of the Model Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha elections and 2 assembly by-elections. Checking campaigns are being conducted at various places to prevent the possibility of use of money power in the elections. Administration and police teams are vigilantly and thoroughly checking the vehicles entering the district boundary.
Under this, the police team recovered cash worth Rs 57,500 from a private car during checking in Dumkhar of Kutlahar Vidhansabha constituency on Sunday night. The driver has been identified as a resident of Una city. ASP Sanjeev Bhatia said that the police asked the driver for information regarding the cash, to which he could not give a satisfactory answer. After which the police seized the cash and started further action.
Let us tell you, during the model code of conduct in elections, it is mandatory for the public to carry documents related to cash amount of more than 50 thousand. If the person carrying cash of more than 50 thousand rupees is carrying, then he will have to provide evidence regarding its source and expenditure.
