They have written that the purpose of the 106th Amendment Act of the Constitution is to reserve one-third of all seats for women in the Lok Sabha and state legislatures. In the letter, they have demanded that the Election Commission issue an advisory to the registered political parties to give 33 percent representation to women candidates in each state in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024. She said parties should show their true commitment to democracy and equality, diversity and inclusion by providing women candidates with opportunities to reach parliament instead of just giving speeches and slogans.
