Nawanshahr - Eye donor late Hardev Singh has become a source of inspiration for the awareness message "Donate blood while you are alive, donate eyes while you are dead" - these words were said by Jathedar Tralochan Singh Dupalpuri while addressing the congregation after the last Ardas in the name of Hardev Singh at the local Guru Nanak Nagar based Gurdwara Sahib.
He said that his daughter-in-law Sukhwinder Kaur regularly donates blood, who has donated blood 36 times, thus this family has become an example for blood donation and eye donation service. He said that while wishing to improve our afterlife, we should continue our efforts to improve our present as well.
On behalf of BDC and Upkar Society, JS Gidda said that blood donation is the best donation and that healthy people between the ages of 18 and 65, whose body weight is at least 45 kg and hemoglobin is 12.5 grams, can save the lives of needy people by donating blood after three months. Manjit Singh, President of Netra Daan Sanstha Ropar, said that while alive, aware people promise through oath that they agree to donate their eyes after death.
Awareness of the family regarding this donation is important, because only the family can inform the institution about the departed soul. He said that in our country about one crore people are deprived of eyesight, but due to ignorance we sacrifice the precious eyes of the deceased, but due to donations by eye donors, some needy people are also getting eyesight, like late Hardev Singh, who has earned the virtue of giving eyesight to two people before leaving this world.
On this occasion, the organization honored Bhupinder Singh, son of eye donor Hardev Singh, by giving him a memento. The devotees included stage secretary Sukhwinder Singh, Gurinder Kaur, Balveer Kaur, Sukhwinder Kaur, Gurdev Singh Pabla Sarpanch Langroa, Health Minister Punjab Bhai Jasveer Singh Bhaura, Manmeet Singh Manager BDC, Sumit Gill Hoshiarpur and Malwinder Singh Ludhiana etc.
