Hoshiarpur - Under the guidelines of Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal, a massive awareness program was organized at Ryat Bahra College Hoshiarpur under the 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' scheme. 600 school teachers and the Special Juvenile Police Unit of the district participated in this two-day event. District Development Fellow Joya Siddiqui participated in this event from the district administration.
Addressing the event, he said that the main purpose of this awareness event is to spread the 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' campaign to maximum number of school teachers and Special Juvenile Police Unit in the district. So that they can go ahead and give a message to the students. District Program Officer Hardeep Kaur explained the importance of 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' scheme and gave detailed information about 'Posh Act' and domestic violence and child protection. On this occasion, Resource Person Child Project Officer Hoshiarpur-2 Daya Rani gave information about improving the sex ratio and adverse sex ratio and the activities carried out by the school teachers. Similarly, Resource Person Middle Level Training Center Hoshiarpur Principal Seema Sharma played the role of resource person. Principal Seema Sharma told about the importance of the diet given to children in the adolescent stage as well as the various recipes given to them in addition to the prevention of anemia, menstrual management, cleanliness during menstruation etc. District Child Protection Officer Dr. Harpreet Kaur gave information about Child Protection Schemes, Juvenile Justice Act, POCSO Act, Child Marriage Prevention Act, Child Labor Act, Importance of School Management Committees, Complaint Box, POCSO E-Box, District Level Child Protection Committees, Detailed information about Block Level Child Protection Committees, Good Touch Bad Atch, Child Helpline No. 1098 etc. Aarti Sharma from One Stop Center Hoshiarpur gave information about Domestic Violence Act and facilities provided by One Stop Center to women and girls and helpline number 1091 and 181 for women. On this occasion, the Punjabi translation of Menstropedia comic was also released and distributed to all the teachers, so that they can keep it in their school libraries and educate the students. In it, children going through puberty are given detailed information about their physical and mental condition, reproductive organs, the changes they undergo and menstrual hygiene management.
