Hoshiarpur - Civil surgeon Dr. Balwinder Kumar Damana said in a conversation that anemia is a concern for the health of children. It is a global problem, affecting children especially girls. He said that this is not a disease, but the root of many diseases. He said that the main symptoms of anemia in children are always tiredness, fast and sudden decrease in heart rate, headache, pain in the whole body and bones, difficulty in breathing and yellowing of the skin. He said that if anemic girls become victims of malnutrition, their whole life can be affected.
Dr. Damana said that 29 health teams of RBSK of Hoshiarpur district had searched for adolescent girls with 8 to 10 grams of Hb in their respective areas. According to this data, 'Hans Foundation', which is an NGO, donated four lakh iron folic acid tablets worth around seven lakh rupees to the health department. These pills will be given to these anemic girls for three months to improve their Hb level. Their Hb will be noted before and after the tablets are fed to check for improvement. These tablets will be ensured to reach the needy girls by the respective SMOs. The Civil Surgeon expressed his heartfelt thanks to Hans Foundation for this noble work.
