DC appeals to urban residents to avail property tax rebate by August 15

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, August 7: Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal has appealed to the residents of urban areas of the district to pay their pending property tax dues by August 15, 2025, to avail the benefit of waiver on penalty and interest on the principal amount.

Sharing the details of property tax collected so far, DC Mittal said that the urban local bodies of the district have collected Rs 22.20 crore under property tax dues since July 1. He further said that the 'rebate window' is still open, and people should take advantage of this opportunity and pay their dues immediately without any additional penalty or interest.
Giving details of tax collection by the local bodies of the district, he said that Zirakpur Municipal Council topped the list with a collection of Rs 13.77 crore. This was followed by Kharar with Rs 3.81 crore, Derabassi with Rs 2.27 crore, Lalru with Rs 84.54 lakh, Kurali with Rs 56.4 lakh, Nawan Gaon with Rs 53.41 lakh and Banur with Rs 38.47 lakh.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the people to come forward and pay their dues before the due date of August 15 to avoid additional expenses. He also informed that during this period, the offices of the local bodies would be kept open on weekends (Saturday, Sunday) to facilitate the urban residents in paying their dues.
