The Deputy Commissioner said that he has also formed a team under the leadership of District Child Protection Officer Shaina Kapur and Deputy District Education Officer Elementary Manwinder Kaur Bhullar to estimate the weight of children's bags in schools of the district.
By which the weight of the children's bags has been assessed by visiting some schools today.
The Deputy Commissioner said that according to the school bag policy, it is mandatory that the weight of the bags of students from class 1 to 12 should not exceed 10 percent of the students' own weight. While no bag is required in pre-nursery. Apart from this, there are many other rules, about which schools and teachers should inform the parents of students to reduce the burden of children's bags. He said that parents should not give heavy bags to their children and especially trolley bags should be avoided.
This team visited many schools today and interacted with the school heads, teachers and also went to the classes and carefully inspected the copies, books and other items in the children's quarters. This team has also talked to the parents of the students standing outside the schools and explained to them the important points to reduce the weight of their children's bags. Meanwhile, Shaina Kapoor and Manwinder Kaur Bhullar said that under the orders of Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahni, they visited some schools today and inspected the children's dormitories and found that they were overweight.
