Chandigarh, April 19 - In Punjab, about one thousand acres of wheat standing ready for harvest in about half a dozen districts have been reduced to ashes due to fire today. Apart from this, incidents of stubble burning have also come to light in many places.
As soon as the information about the fire in the fields was received, the fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and tried to control the fire. Meanwhile, along with the fire brigade, the farmers were also busy extinguishing the fire in the wheat. However, the farmers are saying that the cause of the fire is a short circuit. First, due to unseasonal rains and now due to arson incidents, the farmers are facing a double blow.
According to the information, arson incidents have come to light in Ferozepur, Mansa, Bathinda, Moga and many other areas of Punjab. The highest number of incidents occurred in villages near Zira in Ferozepur and in the village of Vairoke in Moga.
