The Deputy Commissioner said that 541749 metric tons of paddy has been purchased from Pangrain, 328189 metric tons from Markfed, 245075 metric tons from Pansap, 159544 metric tons from Punjab State Warehouse Corporation and 165 metric tons from traders.
He said that the farmers of the purchased paddy have been paid Rs 2617.32 crore. On this occasion, he appealed to the farmers to mix the straw in the fields by using in situ techniques to increase the fertility of the land, saying that while it avoids pollution of the environment, it also increases the fertility of the land.
