Patiala, October 2: Senior Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu has made serious allegations against the AAP governments of Delhi and Punjab and termed the Delhi government's new excise policy as "theft and cynicism". Talking to the media at his residence here today, he alleged that there has been a pre-planned corruption of several thousand crore rupees under the new excise policy of Delhi. He expressed his surprise by giving the statistics of the increasing excise revenue of many states that Delhi government had an excise revenue of Rs. 3378 crores out of the total sales of Rs. 7860 crores last year but under the new policy the annual sales were Rs. 312 crores in India while Tamil Nadu earned a higher revenue of Rs 407 crores from the license fee alone. The Delhi government has done all this to benefit "private players" and has "stolen" on a large scale, the government treasury has been whitewashed. Navjot Singh Sidhu targeted not only the Kejriwal government in Delhi but also the Punjab government under the leadership of Bhagwant Singh Mann and accused that "systematic corruption" is going on in Punjab as well. Naming AAP MLA Kulwant Singh from Mohali, Navjot Sidhu alleged that all L-1 liquor contracts in Mohali belong to Kulwant Singh and similarly in Punjab these contracts have been given to "favourite and selective" people. He also alleged that land, sand, transport, cable and liquor mafias are getting government patronage in the state.
