New Delhi:- The central government will distribute 25 lakh free LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana during Navratri. This will take the total number of Ujjwala beneficiaries across the country to 106 million.
Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Puri said on Monday that the government will spend Rs 2,050 on each connection, which will include a free LPG cylinder, gas stove, regulator and other related equipment.
Terming it a Navratri gift for women, Puri said that the expansion of Ujjwala reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to respect women's power. "Prime Minister Modi respects women like Goddess Durga.
This decision further strengthens our resolve to respect and empower mothers and sisters," he wrote in a post on Instagram. The Minister also praised this scheme as a symbol of empowerment and a source of change.
